Reds infielder/outfielder Ryan Freel will undergo surgery to repair the torn distal hamstring tendon behind his right knee on Wednesday July 23. Reds medical director Dr. Tim Kremchek will perform the surgery, after which the club will announce a prognosis for recovery. In 48 appearences and 26 strats for the Reds this season, Freel hit .298 with 6 stolen bases before he went on the disabled list on June 4.
